Ancient ships from Pisa
The Archeological
Museum in Florence (Via della Colonna) hosts a very fascinating
exhibition and one of the most extraordinary archeological
discoveries of recent years: Roman ships found in Pisa.
Over 600 findings, such as amphorae, oil-lamps, bronze
figures, the reconstruction of the face of a sailor buried
with his dog under the ballast of a wrecked ship, are
on view for visitors to admire.
TheMuseum is open every day. Mondays 2p.m. - 7p.m. Tuesday
to Friday 9a.m. -7p.m. Saturdays 9a.m.-2p.m. and Sundays:
9a.m.-7p.m. The exhibition is due to close on May 14.
