THE ALLEGED 'TELEPHONE OPERATOR' OF THE D'ANTONA HOMICIDE ARRESTED

Opened an investigation on leak in information

On Wednesday 17 a 27 year old man was arrested with the charge of having taken part in the murder of the trade unionist and state collaborator, Massimo D'Antona.

In the last months investigators had been following the arrested together with another ten suspects, but had then had to anticipated the arrest because of a leak in information on the papers of Tuesday 16 regarding the imminent arrest of the telephone operator of the attack and other details regarding the investigation.

The Rome Attorney General opened an investigation on the information leakagethat gave rise to political polemics addressed to the Home Minister Enzo Bianco.

The only evidence found against Alessandro Geri is the trace left on the telephone card in the booth used to claim the aggression which is supposed to be the same as the one used by Geri months before.

The telephone card at issue is thought to have passed from hnd to hand several times and as things stand now it is the only trace available to invesigators to work out and understand the behaviour of an accused who, though followed and intercepted for months, took no step that may be linked to the aggression.

However, the man who made the telephone call is said to have been recognized in a photograph by a 13 year old who had just previously used the telephone booth from which the call claiming the aggression was made.

After the assassination of the trade unionist Massimo D'Antona, the Red Brigades had announced a new "Spring of blood". Fortunately, however, no other murders followed the one of last May, though a series of criminal actions, almost all thwarted by police, lead back to an attempt at refunding e reorganizing the terroristic groups.
