We don't want to repeat ourselves, so you may like to read what we said last
year.
Let us just add, this time round, that the presenter this year is Fabio Fazio, a wacky comic-turned-TV presenter.
To understand the person, it's worth mentioning that he became famous on a Sunday afternoon TV show about soccer. There were interviews, more or less surreal, with live links to soccer parks.
But TV viewers never saw anything of the soccer: there were fans cheering or booing, players going to and from the benches, and referees whistling. But he never showed anyone actually playing.
In his usual eccentric way, he called for Nobel medicine prize-winner Renato Dulbecco to present the festival with him. He accepted, and Fazio says this shows he "understands the value of fun and humor. "
As usual, there's a pretty woman. This year it's the Corsican top model, Laetitia Casta, who's also quite good at her job.
To find out more about Italy's most popular festival, you might care to browse the Italian state TV site on the festival, or the official festival one. But be warned: they're only in Italian.
